Manoj Kumar Sardar #1 Sitar

A fully decorated Karaj/Pancham (Ravi Shankar style) sitar from one of our favorite Kolkata makers. This instrument features a natural upper tumba (gourd), 7 rose petal main pegs, 13 inlaid taraf (sympathetic) pegs, monochrome penwork, synthetic bridges and nuts with a brass langot (tailpiece). The carving and penwork are beautifully detailed. The tone and action is excellent and the instrument is well suited to advanced players. The Manoj Kumar Sardar sitars are characterized by a clean bright sound. The shop is run by four brothers, all musicians and craftsmen, who carry on and improve on the traditions of their father, Khagendranath Sardar and their grandfather Mrityunjay Sardar.
